Le Moulin Microcrédits
Since 2005, the Windmill Microlending has supported hundreds of newcomers to achieve their career goals in IT, engineering, nursing, education, law, business, marketing, management, finance, transportation and many other fields. Nationally, more than half of the Windmill’s clients work in health care, a field where training, exams and licensing fees are among the highest. An internationally trained dentist, for instance, must pay between $40,000 and $100,000 to obtain her Canadian qualifications.
The model is particularly relevant because affordable credit is scarce or non-existent for newcomers with no credit history in Canada. Beyond the loan, the Windmill also offers coaching and mentoring.
