The steps:

  • You must complete a letter of intent, which takes little time to prepare and allows you to briefly outline the purpose of your application.
  • We will then contact you to let you know when the application can be considered by the Donations Committee (month, year).
  • If your application can be considered within the current year, you will be asked to submit a full application.
  • The entire process may take up to 120 days, as it involves a review by the Donations Committee followed by a recommendation to the Board of Directors.

Please note that:

Due to the large number of applications we receive and in order to prioritise follow-up visits for approved gifts, we are unable to accept requests for meetings with applicant organisations.

However, do not hesitate to write to us (dons@fjab.qc.ca) to ask more specific questions or to check whether your application aligns with the Foundation’s interests.

Applications received directly from departments of large institutions, such as universities, without the support of their development office, will not be considered.

If this is your first visit, you will have to create a user account on the Foundation’s digital platform

  • View the Application guide
  • Complete the registration form
  • In the dashboard, select the “Major Donations and Major Campaigns” programme.

Submitting a letter of intent (also known as an LOI)

The letter of intent requires little time to prepare and allows you to briefly outline the purpose of your application.

Possible scenarios once the form has been submitted

  • If the committee is able to consider your application immediately after submission, we will contact you to invite you to submit a full application.
  • If your application fits within the five-year plan, we will contact you to let you know the year and month in which we will be able to consider your application.
  • If your application does not meet our criteria or is not eligible due to budget constraints, you will receive a response from us within 30 working days.

During the summer, the response time to a letter of intent may exceed 30 working days due to holidays. Please rest assured that we will notify all applicant organisations of our decisions (whether the response is positive or negative).

Should we invite you to submit a full application.

Step 1: When we contact you regarding a full application, we will provide you with access to a more detailed form, which you will complete on the same digital platform. You will need to attach your most recent financial statements and your annual/activity report. We will specify the deadline for completing this information. This is done solely at our invitation.

Step 2: Your application is presented to the Donations Committee and then to the Board of Directors. The response time, whether positive or negative, may take up to 120 working days.

Step 3: Receipt of the donation
Grant payments are made by direct deposit into your account. If the application is accepted, the applicant’s bank details will be requested.

Step 4: The conversation
To strengthen our relationship of trust, you will be invited to a 30- to 45-minute meeting during the year. This approach aims to encourage direct and spontaneous dialogue. Beyond our gift, we want to hear from you about your successes, challenges, needs, lessons learnt, and so on. We also appreciate informal updates throughout the year.
