THE COHORT

A renewed cohort!
The transformation cohort is the new version of the culture of change and social innovation cohort. After 7 years and a pandemic, we felt it was necessary to revisit the themes addressed, the angles considered and the pedagogical formats used. With transformation as a narrative framework, we will be able to address a variety of topics and analyze them on different scales, at the level of individuals, organizations and ecosystems.

Since the cohort is intended to be a safe space for learning, reflection and inspiration, we are favouring a variety of approaches: exchanges, case presentations, co-development and occasional interventions by actors from the field. Since experimentation is also our watchword, new learning activities will be developed with the participants with the intention of not only supporting them in their personal reflections but also in their change processes within their organizations.

The next edition of the cohort will start in September 2022, in person. See the dates below.

Submission of applications until June 17, 2022 at noon!

Over a period of 8 months, a dozen NPO executive directors meet to deepen and exchange their knowledge on various issues they encounter in their daily professional lives. New models of management, storytelling, financing, communication, governance, impact… the topics are diversified and adapted to the expressed interests and needs of each cohort.

Organizations wishing to initiate a reflection in a changing and complex environment or who would like to facilitate the implementation of new ways of doing things within their team.

The sessions and teaching supports are mainly in French.

The activities offered through Philagora are usually free of charge. However, to underline the investment of time and energy required of participating organizations, a contribution to the fees, as well as a resolution from the Board of Directors, are requested.

  • $500 for organizations with revenues* of $300,000 or less
  • $1,000 for organizations with revenues between $300,000 and $2 million
  • $1,500 for organizations with revenues over $2 million

*According to the most recent financial statements.

These registration fees include:

  • The sessions of training
  • Fees for external speakers and trainers
  • Teaching materials
  • Meals and meeting rooms
  • Personalized support, according to the needs of each organization

Note: The activities of the cohort will be offered mainly in person. If necessary, the meetings will be virtual, and we might need to adjust the schedule.

Various actors contribute to the cohort.

The Foundation’s philanthropic activities team acts as host, and liaison with the various stakeholders who share their knowledge.

André Fortin, the Foundation’s social innovator in residence*, leads the sessions, delivering theoretical content as well as concrete exercises and tools to be put into practice within the organizations.

*Inspired by the Artist in Residence, who designs a creation by integrating a place and obtaining more resources, the Social Innovative in Residence supports the teams in moving the organization toward best practices: designing work processes that favour relationships and avoid compartmentalized approaches, enhancing the employees’ dormant competencies, developing a culture of innovation and the reflexes to deal with change and complexity.

The meetings will be held in person at the Centre St-Pierre, 1212 Panet Street, in Montreal. A 2-day retreat will be held at Île Saint-Bernard (Chateauguay).

  • Thursday September 15 and Friday September 16, 2022: 2-day retreat
