OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES
On a continuum from more to less flexible, here are the principles that guide the work of the team responsible for relations with applicant organisations.
- All new applications to the Foundation begin with the submission of a letter of intent or intent form, which takes little time to prepare and allows applicants to briefly explain the purpose of their application.
- We do not have a deadline for submitting new applications: we accept intent forms throughout the year.
- All applications are read and analysed (by humans). They are processed as quickly as possible and presented to the Grants Committee at the appropriate time (the grants committee meets six times a year).
- Organisations may submit an intent form every twelve months.
- The Foundation strives to provide long-term support to organisations. Grants for the mission may be spread over several consecutive years, with a maximum of 10 years.
- Our accountability process consists of an annual 30-45 minute meeting. This approach is designed to encourage direct and spontaneous conversations. Beyond our donation, we want to hear about your successes, challenges, needs, learnings, etc. We also appreciate informal follow-ups throughout the year.
- Only applications submitted via our electronic platform will be considered and responded to.
- Requests received directly from departments of large institutions, such as universities, without the support of their development office, will not be considered.
- In the case of major, multi-year donations (e.g., major fundraising campaigns), a three-year dormancy period is generally imposed when the donation becomes inactive. We will then inform the organizations concerned of the date on which they will be eligible to submit a new intent form.
- We do not accept applications from organizations that already receive an active donation from the Foundation.
- Due to the large number of applications we receive and the limited size of our team, we are unfortunately unable to schedule exploratory meetings with applicant organisations at this time.
