Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi Montréal Centre-ville
In collaboration with the Centre d’Hébergement Paul-Émile Léger, the CJE is offering a programme of mediation, research and/or creation residencies for emerging Montreal artists in a residential centre for people losing their autonomy (CHSLD).
Each season, three artists from different disciplines (visual arts, performing arts) take over the vacant premises on the third floor of the CHSLD, turning them into creative spaces. For three months, under the supervision of the centre’s team, the artists interact with the residents.
The Paul-Émile Léger residencies are much more than a simple artistic programme. It’s an investment in the well-being of people with diminished autonomy, in the future of young artists and in the creation of a more inclusive society. Art becomes a vehicle for inclusion, social cohesion and well-being, as well as actively contributing to experiential learning for emerging artists.
