Centre Besrour
Bringing together Canada’s 17 departments of family medicine, with a presence in 40 countries and in most of the world’s French-speaking medical schools, the Besrour Centre has gained both national and international recognition. The Centre is well positioned to influence the critical issues in primary care delivery that have been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is predicted that in the second decade of the 21st century, 50% of the world’s population will not have access to adequate primary care.
The Foundation’s interest in the Centre revolves around its role as a hub for transferring Canadian expertise in family medicine to developing communities. The Centre pools the knowledge and projects of Canadian medical faculties, while drawing on the regulatory experience of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
To continue to increase and diversify its impact, the Centre must continue to develop its infrastructure and have the operational support that will translate into a greater capacity to achieve its objectives.
