La Fondation du Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie
The Fondation du Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie has set up homes for the most vulnerable children. L’Escargot and L’Explorateur take in children with serious attachment problems, resulting in learning and socialization difficulties.
During this phase, they can neither be integrated into a foster family nor adopted, such is their distress. The homes aim to provide them with a safe, loving and stable environment in which to regain their trust in adults and develop the self-esteem they need to integrate successfully into a family.
In addition to speech therapy, psychotherapy and occupational therapy, which are essential to the rebuilding of these young children, a genuine therapeutic approach is offered.
The Fondation du Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie has played a leading role in setting up the Maison l’Escargot, a model that has been replicated in various regions of Quebec. It gives children the chance to rebuild a positive identity, essential to their social, emotional and intellectual development.
