Le Dépôt, centre communautaire d’alimentation
For 30 years, Le Dépôt has been reaching out to low-income people in Montreal’s west end (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, downtown west end, Côte-Saint-Luc) and surrounding areas with a supportive approach focused on healthy eating.
Demand for the programmes is reaching unprecedented levels. Between 2022 and 2023, food basket distribution at Marché Dépôt doubled. In 2024, the organization is on track to surpass the record figures of 2023, with more than 13,000 baskets distributed in eight months. At Resto Dépôt, the community meal programme, the average number of meals served per day has risen from 150 in 2022 to around 230 in 2024.
The Dépôt’s mission is not limited to emergency food aid. The programmes offered are levers for strengthening the autonomy, dignity and social cohesion of those who use them. The Depot acts as an essential support in the lives of many residents and provides privileged spaces to break social isolation.
