Project Abraham

Project Abraham offers a wide range of services. The organisation has set up a programme of English courses specially designed to meet the needs of newcomers to Toronto, offering them an essential key to their integration. The small, friendly classes are run by teachers trained in trauma-sensitive teaching approaches. In addition, a monthly session with a social worker enables teachers to better support their students.

In 2021, a homework club and one-to-one tutoring were launched, providing invaluable support to pupils from nursery to Year 12. It has been so successful that a waiting list has had to be set up. A case management service is also available, offering personalised support and reinforcing customers’ confidence in the organisation.

The RYSE programme for Yezidi women has been a great success and will now be extended to all new arrivals. Over the years, Project Abraham has welcomed an increasingly diverse clientele from countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, Iran and South America. Despite the growing challenges of housing, food security and mental health, the team remains committed to meeting the needs of each individual with compassion and dedication.
