Théâtre aux Écuries

For nearly 15 years, Théâtre Aux Écuries has played an essential role in the Canadian theatre scene. Located in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, it stands out for its commitment to emerging young artists and its alternative practices that promote collective leadership and resource sharing. With three creative spaces and a 140-seat theatre, it hosts 150 performances each season, attracting a young and diverse audience.

In 2021, the theatre launched the Service Centre, a model of social innovation aimed at stabilising the employment of production workers and offering their services to companies at rates adapted to their means. This model promotes economic equity, environmental sustainability and artistic development. It enables companies to make significant savings, extend the life of their productions and integrate eco-responsible practices from the design stage onwards.

In the face of precarious funding and labour shortages, this project supports the quality of works and the well-being of artists.
