La Tablée des chefs
The Foundation is proud to be associated with the Youth Qualification Program, an intensive intervention program with the aim of preparing the transition to independent living and ensuring the qualification of young people from Québec youth centres. Through Les Ateliers du Frère Toc (Friar Tuck Workshops), La Tablée des Chefs has dedicated the last eight years of its intervention to meeting the needs of young participants to take control of their diet and better understand the issues of the transition to adulthood, while reducing the stress related to this time.
The organization recognizes a new reality: a growing number of these young people express an interest in pursuing studies in cooking, but have not completed their Diploma of Secondary Studies. In collaboration with visionary partners, La Tablée des Chefs has set up a training program in adapted social cooking, including a curriculum leading to a Diploma of Vocational Studies recognized by the government. At the end of this training, the young participants will be able to work as cooks in the industry or even become chefs. This is a great example of adaptation of the offering to the community’s changing needs.
