THE LEARNING ENRICHMENT FOUNDATION
The MINA Project strongly supports diversity and promotes equal opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds. Through mentoring and leadership development, participants are introduced to diverse role models (BIPOCs) who reflect their experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. The diversity of the leaders and volunteer team enables participants to identify with and draw inspiration from those who have overcome similar challenges.
A young person’s background should not determine his or her chances of obtaining these opportunities. Rather, the aim is to show children and young people the wide range of opportunities available to them, and to ensure that they don’t start excluding themselves from options at an early age.
From app designers to neurologists, product managers to CEOs, volunteers from communities give their time to share their career paths with a local school or group in underserved communities. These diverse and inclusive interactions have a positive impact on young people’s academic success, employment outcomes and earning potential, and help ensure the sustainability of Toronto’s workforce.
